Born near Nuremberg, father ran a brush manufacturing company established by his father in 1897. Escaped Kristallnacht and Mr Ingram and his brother were sent to Holland, eventually moved to Gateshead. Father set up factory in Team Valley. Gateshead filthy, Jewish community very strict orthodox. Moved on to Jesmond. Evacuated and father interned. Feelings about nationality. Standard of living in Germany and England. Brush factory, employees, goods. German traditions and food. Education and work in factory. Change of name.
