Water Wheel
Water wheel at Greenhurth Mine. Large pitch-backslide water wheel at time of erection. The wheel was sited at the lowest possible place in water to re-use the water from the evening flows. The power was then transmitted by means of rods & spears of the hillside to swam's shast a distance of about 500 yds. The cottage on the right was one of two which were occupied by the manager & washing master
