Bousesteads
The remains of what was probably one of the most prosperous 19th century lead mining sites in the North. The dressing floor can still be traced and alongside runs a very fine series of bouse-steads with traces of rail track above. This series of parallel stepped walls was built to contain the various quantities of ore mined by each group of miners. Here the ore was stored until ready for preparation. Above the bouse-steads stands the present estate wood-shed.
