The Dean of Canterbury, Dr Hewiett Johnson was giving a lecture on China and at 8 minutes to nine, student pallbearers entered the Appleby Lecture Theatre (Durham University) with an imitation coffin, draped in black with the Hungarian flag overlaid, 13th November 1956. They laid it in front of the guest speaker and paid tribute to the Hungarian people. This was part of a demonstration students made when the 'Red Dean' visited to speak to Durham Colleges UNSA & Social Society.
