Built by Nimmo and Sons, opened Sat May 16th 1896, Mrs Frazer was first landlady, taken over by the Temperance Society, then by Blackhall Workingmens Club (1919-1927) - J Boldon Club Steward. Electric generator installed by Bob Payne in 1920. In 1928 bought by Horden Coal Co as flats for miners. Demolished c1967 under the Category D Villages Act.

Gateway on left led to old goods yard and former Stanhope and Tyne Lime and Coal Depot (rebuilt at Beamish). Now (2000) site of Boldon Business Park roundabout.
