c1902 van or car advertising Excelda handkerchiefs built by J L Prestwick who owned the Protector Lamp and Lighting Company, Eccles. It was driven from Lands End to John O Groats. c1902 Bijou motor van with 12hp 2 cylinder petrol engine under the driver's seat. An article featureing this van (now with artillery wheels) appeared in "Motor Car Journal" 6th December 1902, in part reporting that it had covered "19000 miles of practically continuous daily running" and its travels included visits to both John o'Groats and Lands End. Ironstone miners
Group of miners at Normanby Ironstone mine, c1900. The man fifth from the right sitting has iron tags on strings around his neck, each tag bore a mans number and they were attached to full tubs of ironstone to indicate who had won the load.
