Perspective view of the Works of the Colliery, Horizontal, Inclined and Self-acting Planes, with the Locomotive and other Engines used on the Railway and Staithes and Slef Discharging Depot on the Banks of the River Wear near Sunderland. The colliery was began on 19 December 1820 and for the space of 3 months there were pumped from the pits be the Main and Machine Engines 3000 gallons of water per minute from the depth of 60 yds.
