Mr Jimmy Lowther with his mobile roundabout near his stables at the bottom of Station Road, Boldon Colliery, 1953. The price for a ride was 3d and the ride was manually powered. The ride is now in York Castle Museum.

Folly House
General view of Folly House, West Boldon, 1950. Standing in the Folly, this three storey building was reputed to have been built by a retired sea captain, so he could go to the upstairs windows and look out across the fields at the sea. Demolished in the 1950s.

Hylton Lane
Looking down Hylton lane towards West Boldon, 1950s, with parts of the old dry stone walls still showing that once ran down both sides of the lane. Eventually all of the walling would be removed to allow the road to be widened. Note the hay stack on the left of the road, and Folly House protruding above the houses on the right.
