"Breaking in the riding cob. Barrington stables. "
Painting by James Mackenzie entitled "Breaking in the riding cob. Barrington stables.", depicting a trainer breaking in a pit pony. Size 485 x 385 mm in frame. (See 45828 for colour) - Bill Tate (Head Trainer), George Cook (Trainer) - "The cob's a bigger horse altogether you see. More like a horse that you would use for hacking. But they did use cobs down the pit where there was enough height and these were what you call driving ponies, which instead of pulling two tubs at time might pull six. They were stronger horses. That's one at the breaking stables."
