Banner parade
Banner parade through Durham City, 1969 on the centenary of the foundation of the Durham Miners' Association led by the Handon Hold Colliery band. Five banners were damaged beyond repair on this occasion. The banners in view are Tursdale and Pelton Fell, followed by the Bowburn Lodge banners, Wheatley Hill Lodge, Dean and Chapter Lodge and finally Beamish Air Lodge. Taken from "The Banner Parade" by W A Moyes, published by Frank Graham in 1973. The Bowburn banner was subsequently acquired by COSA.

Haswell Lodge banner
Front of DMA Haswell Lodge banner. Illustration entitled 'They being dead yet speaketh', depicting Tommy Ramsey, Alex MacDonald and W Crawford. This lodge was in the Pitmen's Union in 1831. The pit closed in 1895. Banner dates from 1893. At the 1989 Durham Miners' Annual Gala the banner was given to Durham Cathedral to be hung there on permanent loan.
