Memorial card
Embossed memorial card in sacred the memory of the unfortunate miners (166 in number), killed in the Seaham Colliery Explosion, September 8th 1880. A piece of broken board about 2 feet long and 2 inches broad was found near the bodies, upon which was written in chalk on one side "J Riley, J McGlochlan, J Fletcher, J Drainer" on the other side was "Five o'clock, we have been praying to God". Size 78 x 115mm. Taken from album of 165 card.
