Portrait of sailor
John William Bee. Born at Stanhope in 1885 (later moved to St Johns Chapel) , taken while he was in the Navy serving on HMS Princess Royal. He emigrated with his family to Canada in 1928 at the age of 43. At Brantford, Ontario he bought a 50 acre dairy farm, which he farmed through the Depression until about 1940, when he and his wife Phoebe moved to Woodstock, Ontario. he died there on 6th July aged 78 years.
