Patchwork coverlet - unfinished. Made up of hexagons in blues, beige and pink hexagon in centre of each larger hexagon. It was made by an elderly country woman confined to bed by age and infirmity. Quilt still has newspaper pieces attached and some are dated 1841 & 1855.

Patchwork strip quilt - nine strips (4 of these made up of patchwork squares of turkey red, blue, pink and beige) narrow strips in between of pink & white cotton. Reverse of white cotton quilting follows its strips. Made by well known quilter Miss Sarah Egglestone c1890's with her grandmother at Westgate in Weardale. Size 2.34 x 1.88 m.

Size 2.61 x 2.54 m diagonally set squares (c190 mm each) alternating striped printed cotton & patchwork small squares (centre of each of the latter being same material as larger squares. Light colour - pink and white predominate printed pink surround. White reverse. Quilted in small diamond and some leaf shapes.
