Wooden knitting sheath.
Wooden knitting sheath belonged to Mr & Mrs Waugh, 7, Stanley Homes, Cramlington. He was a coal miner at Hartley Main Pits, Cramlington. 30 mm long x 147.5 mm long x 17.5 mm wide. Short piece, well notched and with a carved out wooden chamber containing wooden ball. Voluted end. Well used. Engraved " GB. 1838 MWW ".

Miners Patterson Lamp used in West Sanley Diaster
They previously belonged to Allan and Henry Miller, father and son, both killed in the West Stanley Disaster of 1909. The lamps were brought out of the pit. Lamp No :- 509, a later Patterson type. Burner missing. Made from brass and painted steel. Base marked with number:"509".
The bonnet is also marked "509" (stamped on to a brass plate). See file for details of family tree. There is a bent steel hook for hanging the lamp and a steel spike (80mm long) is attached to it.
