The presentation of the Durham County Press Cups at the Flower and Vegetable Show by Mr Arnold Rowntree (President of the show) outside Durham Town Hall, 5th September 1947. Mr Charlton of Wheatley Hill received cups for the best display of chrysanthemums, the allotment cup and also the trophy for best collection of vegetables on behalf of Thornley Allotment Society.
