Border of Prince of Wales feathers with detailed freely drawn corner designs. Quilted by Mrs Adamson of Rookhope in 1921. Pencil markings visible. Size 2.74 x 2.14m. See 16693 for b/w. Cat no 2.

Plain floral quilt, 1886, Quebec, Co Durham. Pale printed floral cotton with reverse of scarlet cotton. Quilting in strips of twist, bellows and running diamond. Made by Mrs Harriet King (born 1866 in Suffolk) who moved to Quebec in 1886 with her husband to find work in the mines. All six daughters helped to sew the quilt . Cat No 18. Size 1972-358

Made by Mrs Mary Potts, a widow and well-known quilter who earned her living by quilting in Chester le Street. Cat no19. Size 2.34 x 2.13m.

Outer border of hammock and rose. The freely drawn leaf and feather patterns are in the style of George Gardiner of Allenheads and this could well be the work of his pupil Elizabeth Sanderson.
