Schools Holiday Camp built by the London Lead Company as a school for the use of children of its workforce. Cost £1000 contains testimonial to Root Stagg Chief Agent for Company (1816-1842). This was the 2nd school built by the company in Middleton. It was briefly used by the Middleton in Teesdale school Board (estab 1879). As its school waited a new & larger school was built in Middleton in 1891.
