The rear of Boltsburn washings shows small aerial flight which carried lead ore up to the main Rookhope to Eastgate aerial flight hoppers. Also shows water leat and covered water wheel.

Mono rail hopper in centre of photograph. This was filled by a skip that led from the Rookhope end of the aerial flight to Eastgate and was used for coal for the Boiler House at Boltsburn Mine to power the steam driven air compressors and winding gear.

In centre of photo is the Rookhope-Eastgate aerial flight loading point with large wooden hoppers for filling skips, the hoppers were filled by another aerial ropeway from the washings which can be seen running diagonally across the centre of the photo. To the right of the photo can be seen the railway incline that carried waste up on to the dead heaps above the washing plant. The square wooden trunking that can be seen in the bottom right hand corner carries the water supply that drove the covered-in waterwheel which powered the mill. Outside Sipton mine washing plant showing hoppers for holding waste chippings (?) etc. from jigs. The washing plant was taken down when Sipton finished and was rebuilt at Rookhope where it is about to be taken down again. See 16820

Road crossing point for the Weardale Lead Co.'s aerial flight from Rookhope to Eastgate. Note steel net slung under the ropeway to stop mineral falling out of the skips onto road users. See 16815-16818
