Prof Henry Louis is the man who saved the Minute Books from the London Lead Co from being burnt by the liquidator at Middleton in Teesdale. He was a Consultant Geologist for the Weardale Lead Company. Mr Willis, once told Sir Kingsley Durham that he was the last manager alive who managed a mine for the London Lead Company. Middleton Hall
The Hude. Middleton House which was from 1819 until 1903 the Headquarters in the North, for the London Lead Company. Now used as a shooting lodge. The architect was Ignatius Bonomi of Durham. Completed 1819 as Chief Agents House. At same time Bonomi was responsible for changes of New town suburb Middleton smelters homes at Eggleston & Agent's House & Butts Cottages Stanhope for London Lead Company.
