School gardeners
St Hild's College student gardeners with Head Gardener, Albert Richardson (great grandfather of Michael Richardson of Gilesgate, Durham City), 1918. Gardening activities were not just for the wartime effort, but part of the school curicullum. St Hild's became well known for it's garden show and its experience of gardening.
