Group of miners, 2nd from left is John Willaim Bell (b1882 at Hendon, Sunderland). He developed a trade of making mat hooks which he sold throughout the North East, marked RY Bell. He was a Ryhope blacksmith and sold thousands through the Co-op and other stores. (Mat Making)
