Eden Colliery

General view of Eden Colliery, Leadgate. This Colliery was situated beside the Newcastle/Consett Road, beside the railway line near the Jolly Drovers pub. There was a 2nd shaft at Stony Heap below East Castle. Over the years the working moved and eventually the entire Colliery moved to Stony Heap taking the name `Eden' with it. The buildings shown here were then demolished. Note: chauldron waggons under screens and piles of pit props.
