The 25th anniversary of the 1984/85 miners' strike provided a unique opportunity for North East museums and archives to collect and record an important part of the recent history of the region.
The project was a partnership between Beamish Museum, Tyne & Wear Museums and the North East Mining Institute. The aims were to engage former mining communities with North East museums and collections, and also to collect objects, photographs, ephemera and oral histories relating to the 1984/85 miners strikes in the North East.
