Locomotive and Tender- built by North Eastern Railways at their Gateshead works in March 1889. Built to the design of T.W. Worsdell, The Company's Locomotive Superintendant. Type N E R Class C 0-6-0 Number 876. LNER Class J21 and British Rail Number 65033. Withdrawn from service in 1963. Overall length with tender is 16 metres. Number plate dimensions : 600mm Wide x 380mm High. Figures 876 : 150mm High. Lettering - "Gateshead Works 1889" : 180mm High. Lettering "NER" located on tender : 193mm High.

Side view of Steam Crane E1 that was built in 1887 by Black Hawthorn of Gateshead. It was used at Consett Iron Company. It was converted to oil burning in 1965. Taken out of service in 1975.
Its working load was 12.5 tons. Spare wooden patterns for various parts of E1 kept In Rowley attic. Also See Specs 1981-11, & 1981-69. Suffered from partial fire damage in October, 1986. Length: 9 metres. See file for details.
