Was benefactor to Shotley Bridge Maternity Hopsital which became a Cheshire Home. Married Miss Elizabeth Seymour of Consett in 1863. See 94377 for close-up.

Mr Thomas Maughan Proud (1906-79), bus driver standing beside an M & P (Moralee & Parker) bus based at Swalwell. Taken beside the railway bridge at the bottom of Whickham Bank. The buses were housed in a big shed which was situated beside the railway embankment which is on the right of the photograph. The buildings were subsequently used by Derwent Coaches who operated a service between Whickham and Ryton (Stargate) via Winlaton for many years after WW2.
