Power Station
The main control room and power distribution panel of the power station of Consett Iron Works Mrs N Hicks and Mrs H Brown are seen dusting a desk. Of the two clocks in the centre of the control desk the one on the left is accurately controlled standard time and the one on the right is frequency controlled. The speed of the machines, ie frequency is controlled at all times to keep the right hand clock at the same time as the left. In the background is part of the 33KV control panel. The diesel generating control panel is first to the right of centre. June 1965.
