APW Dorothy Hall
Portrait of Miss Dorothy Hall, born 1st September 1921 in her WAPC uniform. Joined the Womens Auxiliary Police force in November 1941 and was stationed at Whickham in a shed behind the sergeants house. In 1944 she was stationed at Barnard Castle. In 1947 she transferred to Felling, in 1949, when the men returned from military service she became a civilian clerk and was based at Whickham from 1956-78. From 1978-81 she worked at Gateshead and retired in November of that year.

German airman (Uffz Alwin Machalett (gunner)) injured through the knee being taken to hospital in an ambulance from Amble Police Station. The airman was from a Heinkel III shot down over Druridge Bay and picked up by a Fisheries Protection Vessel 'David Askew'. 15th August 1940.
