Londonderry wagon article
Article which appeared in the Sunderland Echo 28th August 1974 relating to Londonderry steam wagons which were built at Seaham Harbour Engine Works. The one pictured was one of the first mechanical road delivery vehilces used by the North Eastern Railway for the delivery of goods in York District. It had front oil lamps, external wood brake blocks and a speed of 5 mph. It was first placed in service in July 1905, and the following year, six similar wagons were built at a cost of £500 each, four were still running in 1916.
