The Consett Iron Company's Works: The Victory Pit Consett, during sinking in 1921, sunk by Consett Iron Co to provide coking coal for its own use. A nice typical sinking headgear with a single rope, note kibble hanging just above ground level. At bank note cabin for banksman and simple chute to tip stone in to chauldron wagons. In foreground note breeze blocks and timber formwork made up for arching the pit bottom. 23rd March 1921.

Right front can be seen one of the company's "E" class steam cranes and next to it is the jib of a hand crane (see 24072), centre and left are side tanks, a saddle tank, and two vertical boilers for cranes, these have been left outtside after manufacture to "cure", to help seal up leaks with oxidation (very interesting photograph showing this happening). 18th May 1921.
