Rope drive system
An large electric rope drive system built by C A Parsons and Co Ltd of Heaton and Clarke Chapman and Co of Gateshead and used by Spillers Milling Ltd in Tyne Mill, Newcastle. The huge drive system was built into the centre of the mill, which still stands on the riverside at St Peter's. It drove the grain milling machinery by means of endless ropes, which ran in the grooves in the large horizontal drum. (Series 97727-97730).
