Florence May Turnbull's 4th Birthday Party
Florence May Turnbulls 4th birthday party, c1913. Her family lived in Stanley Villas (next to the police station on High Street, Stanley). Mrs Lord is 3rd from the left. At the party were 3 sisters and one brother and several cousins. Picture taken outside in garden showing food table and guests.

The Rookhope Brass Band in the early part of the century. All of the members were miners except the conductor who was the local policeman.

Lead-smelters outside Lintzgarth smelt mill, Rookhope, 26/5/1902. Note village policeman (actually an "additional constable" paid for by Lintzgarth Smelt Mill and was really the "Works policeman" - PC Tomlison) in centre of photograph, pigs of lead on flags in front of group.
