Mr Bill Lane, British Legion car park attendant, aged 65, September 1955. DA Box 918. He had been deaf, dumb and blind after being injured in the second battle of Ypres in December 1916 while serving with the 2nd and 13th DLI. He also saw action at Hill 60, Vimt Ridge, Armentiers and the first battle of Ypres. After years of treatment his faculties were partly restored.
