Plain coloured quilt of 1939. Made by Mrs Mary Potts of Melville St, Chester le Street. Gold sateen with central rose and free style feathers and leaves. Outer borders of curled leaves. Mrs Potts was a widow who earned her livelihood by quilting. Quilt catalogue No 19.

Strip quilt. Origin - Westgate in Weardale. Maker Miss Sarah Egglestone c1890's. Size 2.34 x 1.88 m Nine strips (4 made up of patchwork squares of turkey red, blue pink & beige). Narrow strips in between made up of pink and white cotton. Reverse of white cotton. quilting follows the strips. Quilt catalogue No 59.

Strip Quilt. Origin Rookhope, Weardale, maker Mrs Harriet Adamson. c1900. Size 2.28 x 2.28 m quilt in 13 strips in pink and blue. Reverse of white cotton. Quilting follows strips in simple leaf pattern and diamond infill. Mrs Adamson - wife of George Adamson Carlisle House, Rookhope who was engineer in the local lead mines. c1900-3. It was designed by Mrs Adamson and kept for use in the guest room.

Origin Allenheads. Maker: Mrs D Adamson. 1912. Size 2.39 x 2.11 m. Cotton patchwork and applique quilt, of pink and white cotton. Top is of machined patches, pink border and strips forming diamonds. Baskets of pink cotton. Handles of baskets appliqued 24 baskets. Quilting follows the patchwork design. Border of Weardale chain. Reverse plain white cotton. Quilt was stamped by Mrs Elizabeth Sanderson of Allenheads. Sewn in 1912 by Mrs Deborah Adamson, Rookhope.
