It was unwrapped, and though it had an accession number, the card was not in the file and there was no record (other than in the donors index) on the database. It is likely that there were no object database records because the original spec card never reached to Alan Grimes. , , , , This record was created from the information in the Accession Register & Donors Index. , , It is not clear where this quilt was stored prior to appearing in the RRC.

Made by William Pattison Chrisholm - blacksmith at Coxhoe colliery. The top of the fender is in the form of 5 plates, 3 of which have been designed with the true lovers knot pattern, a favourite design for quilts. It was also a symbol of everlasting love. See notes
